Politics that
puts people first.
The Humanist Party of Kenya is built around a simple principle: political power belongs to the people and must be exercised in their service.
Three ideas.
One political project.
Humanist politics begins with the belief that every person has inherent dignity and deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life. We combine this human-centred philosophy with democratic institutions and a commitment to social justice.
Our political identity is expressed through three connected foundations.
HUMANIST
Human beings, their dignity, freedom, wellbeing and capacity for creativity are at the centre of political life.
SOCIAL DEMOCRACY
Economic development should expand opportunity, reduce inequality and ensure that prosperity benefits society broadly.
REPUBLICAN DEMOCRACY
Public institutions must be accountable, constitutional, representative and responsive to the citizens they serve.
A political philosophy grounded in human life.
Our politics starts with people and asks a practical question: what kind of society allows human beings to live with dignity, freedom, security and opportunity?
Every person has dignity
Public policy should protect human dignity and expand people's ability to shape their own lives.
Citizens must have power
Democracy should be more than elections. Citizens should participate meaningfully in public decisions.
Opportunity should be broad
Education, healthcare, decent work and economic opportunity should not be reserved for a privileged few.
Government must be accountable
Public institutions must be transparent, constitutional and answerable to the people.
Diversity is a strength
Kenya's cultural, linguistic and social diversity should be protected and celebrated.
Development must be sustainable
Economic progress must protect the environment and the opportunities of future generations.
A national movement rooted in communities.
